Privacy Policy — Saint-Tropez Lux Yachts
Last updated:
This page explains how Saint-Tropez Lux Yachts handles personal data when you visit lacompagnie-a.com, send an enquiry, or arrange a yacht charter in Saint-Tropez. It is written for anyone who contacts us, whether or not a booking follows, and it sets out what we collect, why, for how long, and what choices you have.
It applies to the website itself and to the enquiry, email, telephone and WhatsApp exchanges that lead to a charter. It is governed by the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertés).

The brand behind this website
Saint-Tropez Lux Yachts is the brand under which lacompagnie-a.com operates, offering crewed day charters and longer charters across a curated fleet berthed in Saint-Tropez. For anything covered by this policy, including requests about your personal data, write to [email protected].
Information we collect and where it comes from
- Through the enquiry form: your name, email address, phone number if you provide it, the yacht you are interested in if you select one, your preferred charter dates, the number of guests, your message, and the page and referring website that led you to the form.
- Through email, telephone or WhatsApp: whatever you choose to share with us while discussing a charter.
- When you tap a WhatsApp button on the site: we record the page, the referring website, the page language and the prefilled message text in our booking system before WhatsApp opens. The conversation that follows runs inside WhatsApp itself, under Meta's own privacy terms, not ours.
- Through our own visit measurement script, served from our domain: pages viewed, time on page, the referring website, campaign parameters carried in a link, device type, browser, operating system, screen size, browser language and the country worked out from your IP address. We do not store the IP address itself, and the site places no cookies of its own.
- In your browser: one entry remembering that you closed the cookie notice, one remembering the yacht you clicked on so the enquiry form can be prefilled (removed when you send the form or close the tab), and one holding random visitor and session identifiers used for visit measurement, which expires thirty days after your last visit and can be cleared at any time. None of these entries hold your name, email or phone number.
- Standard server logs kept briefly for security: IP address, time, page requested and browser.
Why we process it and on what basis
We use your information to reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote, and arrange a charter once you book one. Before a booking exists, this rests on the steps you ask us to take in view of a future contract; once a charter is confirmed, it rests on performing that contract.
We also rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and understanding which pages and channels bring enquiries to us, which is why we keep short-term server logs and run our own visit measurement.
Where a charter goes ahead, French rules on commercial records and port formalities require us to hold certain documents, which is a legal obligation that applies regardless of consent.
Guest names for crew list and port formalities
Once a charter is confirmed, we ask for the names of everyone who will be on board. The captain or skipper needs this list to meet port authority and maritime safety requirements in Saint-Tropez, including boarding checks and passenger manifests. This information goes only to the captain or driver performing your charter and, where the port authority asks for it, to that authority.
Who receives your information
Your information is seen by the Saint-Tropez Lux Yachts team members who handle enquiries and bookings, using an internal messaging tool so we can reply quickly. Once you book, the captain or driver taking you out receives the guest list and the details needed to run your trip. Our website is served by a hosting provider that stores the site's files and server logs on our behalf. Two outside services support the technical running of the site: Google Fonts, which loads the page's typefaces and receives your IP address in doing so, and the jsDelivr content delivery network, which supplies the phone-number field used in the enquiry form; neither sets cookies for us. If you message us through WhatsApp, that conversation runs on WhatsApp, operated by Meta, under WhatsApp's own privacy policy once it begins.
Transfers of data outside France
Google Fonts and jsDelivr may process the limited technical data described above on servers located outside France, strictly to deliver a typeface or a form component, never your name, email or phone number. If you choose to write to us on WhatsApp, Meta processes that conversation under its own terms, which may involve transfers outside the European Union; this exchange happens directly between you and WhatsApp once the chat opens, separately from our own systems.
How long we keep your information
If your enquiry does not lead to a booking, we delete it twelve months after your last message to us. If it becomes a confirmed charter, we keep the booking record for as long as French tax and accounting rules require. Server logs kept for security purposes are kept only briefly, and the browser storage entries described above expire or are removed as stated.
How we protect your information
Access to enquiry and booking records is limited to the people who need it to answer you or run your charter. We do not sell personal data, we do not use it to make automated decisions about you, and we do not send marketing messages unless you ask us to.
Your rights and how to use them
Under the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act, you can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or erased, ask us to restrict how we use it, or receive a copy in a portable format. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interest and withdraw any consent you have given.
To use any of these rights, write to [email protected]. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting, and we respond within one month.
If you believe your rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) at www.cnil.fr.
Children, and updates to this policy
Our charters and this website are addressed to adults arranging travel; we do not knowingly collect information from children.
We may update this policy as our services or the tools behind the site evolve. The version published here is the one that applies to you, so please check it whenever you contact us again.
